Maekawa - Jiro Persimmon is firm and crunchy with a sweet sugar cane like flavor. Maekawa-Jiro persimmon tree is a small grower, the trees rarely exceed 15 foot in height.
Ripe when it turns orange, Jiro can be eaten while its flesh is still firm, like an apple. Ripens early, a week or so earlier than Ichi. Fruits are large and usually seedless.
Fruit ripens mid-October through mid-November. Zones 7-9.
