RED MAPLE
Acer rubrum
Maples are a very popular native tree and are adapted to both wet lowlands and moist upland sites throughout the South and East. Its 3-lobed leaves that turn bright yellow, orange, or red after frost in the fall. Red fruits (samaras) produced in early spring before leaf-out are very attractive and the new growth in spring and summer is tinged with red. One of the best landscape and shade trees.
