SYCAMORE
Platanus occidentalis

Sycamore is a very fast growing, large native shade tree, with large characteristic planar leaves that turn golden brown in fall. It has attractive scaling bark. Many birds and mammals eat the seeds and cavity nesters such as owls, wood ducks and woodpeckers use hollow trunks of older trees. Sycamore trees can live 200 years or more.  It is a great tree for producing lots of shade in just a few years.
