Swamp Tupelo

SWAMP TUPELO
Nyssa sylvatica
This tree of river bottoms and swamps is prized for the delicious tupelo honey made from its blooms. It also has small dark blue fruits that are eaten by migrating birds in the early fall, as well as wildlife species such as Wood Duck and bear. The foliage turns bright orange-red in fall.
