RIVER BIRCH
Betula nigra

This is the native birch tree of the South that has beautiful peeling bark. It is a very fast grower and will do well in wetlands as well as upland soils. We grow the cultivar Duraheat, which is the best variety for our hot summers.  Often found along river courses in the wild.
